Summer of Code

Somehow related to my previous post: Google Summer of Code.

Basically, Google encourages students to contribute to Open Source projects in their summer vacation. That’s a nice way to find a holiday job.

Google will provide a stipend of 5000 USD per accepted student developer, of which 4500 USD goes to the student and 500 USD goes to the mentoring organization.

Summer of Code FAQ

To name a few of the 100+ participating projects: ArgoUML, Blender, Creative Commons, Dojo, Jabber, Moodle, One laptop per child, Python, Ruby and Ubuntu.

PS – next topic will not be on Google, I promise!
