How cruel are you?

March 28, 2006

Could you do it? Kill 100 seals and return home, proud of your work?

How proud will your children be. “Gee, dad got the most!”

This seal clubbing just seems so cruel, so inhumane.

Google Finance

March 22, 2006

Yesterday, I stumbled upon it by accident. And today I heard about on Business News Radio: Google Finance.

The financial people weren’t too enthousiastic on the radio. They thought there were already many services alike.

They’re probably right about that. Still, you don’t have to be first. You have to be best.

I really like the accessibility of news articles, accessible from the stock graph. Also, the personal portfolio is nice. Very minimal, which makes it easy to use.

There is much more to it:

And hey, as a Google share holder, I’ll definitely use it 🙂

Aston Martin V8 Vantage

March 21, 2006

Since last saturday, my BMW obsession seems to be over. That day, I found a black Aston Martin V8 Vantage parked in front of our house.

Wow.

Second hand price lies around 125.000 euro. I doubt I will ever be willing to spend that much money on a vehicle. It is a beauty though…

Kleine overwinning op NVM

March 17, 2006

Django, J2EE, Rails, TurboGears or Zope (Plone)?

Wow, this is a real must-see for web developers:

A 20 minutes screen-cast comparing 5 web frameworks. With a surprising ending.

Ubuntu & TurboGears

March 11, 2006

Ok, it took me a bit longer than expected, but I’ve got TG now installed and running on my fresh (two weeks old) Ubuntu Linux.

Installing Ubuntu was easy. HD partitioning was the biggest hurdle. But that resulted more from the difficulty of the decision than from the installation procedure.

TG required some dev-lib packages to be installed, which slowed me down.

I’m very pleased with Ubuntu. It is easy to install and comes with all your basic needs: free, high quality software. More on that later.
